“Sleep mode” is an easy and simple way to save your PC’s energy. Putting your Windows 10 computer is an effortless process to perform. However, some users have reported that the sleep mode is not working on their computers.

Method 1: Modifying the Power Options
Step 1:Open the Settings screen.
Step 2:Select the System option followed by Power & Sleep.
Step 3:Check if the Sleep option is selected. If not, select it.
Step 4:Go to the Advanced power settings section.
Step 5:Now, under the Preferred plans section, select the plan you wish to use and click the Change plan settings command beside it.
Step 6:Click on the command line “Change advanced power settings.”
Step 7:Now, a dialog box titled Power Options will open.
Step 8:Expand and select the “Allow the computer to go to sleep mode” option for all the settings.
Step 9:Finally, click the Apply button followed by OK.
Method 2: Modifying mice and other pointing devices settings
When you place your mouse closer to the computer, it can also prevent it from sleeping. Follow the instructions to fix this issue.
Step 1:Open the Device Manager window.
Step 2:Locate and expand the section named “Mice and other pointing devices.”
Step 3:Select the mouse that is connected to your Windows 10 computer and right-click on it.
Step 4:Click Properties > Power Management.
Step 5:Now, unselect the “Allow this device to wake the computer” option and click Apply > OK.
Method 3: Using the Power Troubleshooter
Step 1:On your Windows 10 computer, open the Settings screen.
Step 2:Click the Update & Security option.
Step 3:Under the Update & Security section, click on the Troubleshoot option.
Step 4:Go to the Power section and click the Run the troubleshooter button.
Step 5:Complete the power troubleshooting process by following the on-screen instructions.

Method 4: Disabling the wake timers
Step 1:Open the Run application.
Step 2:Type and run the “control.exe powercfg.cpl,,3” command.
Step 3:Double-click on the Sleep option followed by Allow wake timers.
Step 4:Check if the Enable option is selected for the Allow wake timers setting.
Step 5:If yes, select the Disable option from the Settings drop-down menu.
Step 6:Click Apply > OK.
Method 5: Turning off the “fast startup” option
Step 1:On the Settings screen, click System.
Step 2:Select the Power & Sleep option.
Step 3:Go to the Related settings section and click the Additional power settings command.
Step 4:Select the following options in order: Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Step 5:Now, under the Shutdown settings section, check if the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option is selected.
Step 6:If not, select it and click the OK button.
Method 6: Disabling the Screensaver option
Step 1:Click on the search field of your Windows 10 computer, type Screen Saver.
Step 2:Now, from the suggestions list, select the Change screen saver option.
Step 3:On the dialog box named "Screen Saver Settings," select the None option from the Screen Saver drop-down menu and click the OK button.
