- Step 1:Check the minimum system requirements before beginning the installation process.
- Step 2:Open a web browser on your Linux computer.
- Step 3:Visit the login page of the Sophos product.
- Step 4:If you do not have a Sophos account, click the Create Sophos ID link and proceed with the on-screen instructions.
- Step 5:If you have the Sophos account, enter the correct account credentials in the Email Address and Password fields and then click the Sign In option.
- Step 6:On the next page, click the Endpoint/Server Protection option.
- Step 7:If you have not mentioned the license user name and password of the Sophos Antivirus program, select the Add your product credentials option.
- Step 8:If you have provided them already, click the Download the Software option.
- Step 9:After clicking the Standalone Installers option, you will see both the ‘Endpoint and Server for Linux’ and ‘Endpoint and Server for Unix’ options on the screen.
- Step 10:Choose the Endpoint and Server for Linux option.
- Step 11:Make sure to download the relevant tarball.
- Step 12:Copy the downloaded tarball to any directory on your computer.
- Step 13:Open the tar file and then run the ‘.sophos-av/install.sh’ script.
- Step 14:Proceed with the guidelines displayed on the screen to complete the installation process of the Sophos Antivirus program on the Linux computer.
- Step 15:While installing, you will see a prompt window to set the type of the update.
- Step 16:Here, choose the Sophos option.
- Step 17:Provide the Sophos Antivirus program’s username and password in the appropriate fields.

- Step 19:Once done with the installation process, check whether the on-access scanning feature is active or not.
- Step 20:To check this feature, use the ‘command/opt/sophos-av/bin/savdstatus’ command.
