 Avast Installation Failure

Avast Antivirus is a software that acts as real-time protection against malware that infects your computer. If Avast installation failure occurs on your Windows computer, follow the troubleshooting steps given below.

Steps To Resolve

  • Step 1:First, check whether the downloaded Avast software is compatible with your operating system.
  • Step 2:Next, verify whether your system meets the requirements for installing Avast.
  • Step 3:On your computer, ensure that you have a standard Internet connection.
  • Step 4:Verify and ensure that you have not installed any other antivirus software on your computer. If you have already installed antivirus software, remove it from your computer and run the Avast installation.
  • Step 5:Also, check whether you have disabled the built-in security software --- Windows Defender --- on your computer. If you have not disabled it, open the Settings app by pressing the Windows + I shortcut keys.
  • Step 6:Click the Update & Security tab in the Settings window.
  • Step 7:Navigate to the left-side panel and click the Windows Defender tab.
  • Step 8:Under Windows Defender, click the Open Windows Defender Security Center button.
  • Step 9:Go to Virus & threat protection and click on Virus & threat protection settings.
  • Step 10:Toggle off the Real-time protection option. Doing so will turn off the Windows Defender program.
  • Step 11:Restart your computer and run the Avast installation to check if the problem has been resolved.
  • Step 12:Sometimes, the antivirus program will not install due to corrupted files. However, you can fix them by running DISM or SFC scans. To do so, open the Command Prompt app with administrator rights.
  • Step 13:Type ‘sfc /scannow’ in the Command Prompt window and press the Enter key.
  • Step 14:Once the SFC scan is completed, you will have to run the DISM scan as well.
  • Step 15:Type ‘DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth’ in the Command Prompt window.
  • Step 16:Press the Enter key to begin the DISM scan and wait until the scan is completed.
